A business in any sector can fall victim to what we call “The Sea of Sameness”, a phrase we use to describe sectors in which every business pretty much looks the same.

Similar colour palettes, icons, photography, key messaging etc. This can happen for a few reasons, but the most common are:

1. Business A goes to a design agency and says we want to look more like Business B, and the agency in doesnít question why.

2. The increasing popularity of easy-to-access design template tools and stock image libraries.

3. And this is probably the biggest, a failing by our industry to clearly articluate the value and power of investing in your branding as an important tool for business growth.

There is a simple test to find out whether your business is falling victim to this. Look at your competitors, what do they look like? what do they talk about? If you see the same approach to photography, key messaging, colours and fonts then i’m afraid you are falling victim to the Sea of Sameness.

Now for the really good news, if you’re in the Sea of Sameness you have the greatest opportunity to stand out. This doesn’t have to mean a full rebrand, often a new approach to how you use your exiting assets is enough to move the needle.

So if you think you might be getting lost in The Sea of Sameness and are ready to give creativity a chance to make a lasting impact on your business then we’d love to hear from you.
