The Box was set up by Creative Director George with Penny Bun Bakehouse owner Johnny Spillings as an experiment in small space retail, (the shop measures just 4 x 4.5m). Everything was designed from scratch – the interior, signage, marketing, etc. The name was deliberately simple, reflected the size of the interior, and was also great for copy (‘What’s in the Box’).
Several years on and The Box is still a must visit bakery in Southwold – though we recommend you get there early if you’re planning a visit, they quickly sell out every week.
